Beyond

Beyond

Pastor Kirk Bowman

Imagine standing on a beach. One of those quiet moments. The sand between your toes. Waves gently rolling in, lapping at your ankles. Maybe there are small fish, crabs even. Seashells of every color sprinkle the coast. The sun bathes you in warm light. Maybe you’re alone. Maybe you’re with your loved ones. You’re standing there, looking out onto the ocean. The big, huge, expansive ocean. The horizon is so far away it’s blurry. In every direction, all you can see is bigness. All you can see is the Beyond

Just like that ocean, God is huge and expansive. He is mighty and tender. He is life-giving. He is powerful. And He loves us unconditionally. He gives abundantly exceedingly beyond.

Because of this, we are called to live Beyond. To treat others with abundant grace and exceeding forgiveness. It’s our job to take our new life and bring others Home. To bring glory to His church and His Kingdom. To live with the Beyond in mind.

The Beyond happens when we find ourselves loving people unconditionally. Where we grow and where we thrive. Where we come to fulfill the plans that God has laid out for us since the beginning of time.

The Beyond is a way of living openly, honestly, and in abundant pursuit of God’s plans for us. The Beyond is recognizing that greater days are ahead. That our experiences do not define God’s love for us – that it’s actually God’s Love for us that defines our experiences.

The Beyond is life giving us what we ask of it. It’s realizing the weight of our thinking and asking. It’s dreaming big, and expecting God to exceed. It’s knowing that God is not limited. The Beyond is finding joy from the inside out. Changing inside. Becoming responsible for our own joy and hope and happiness and love.

The Beyond is not a finish line. It’s not something attain. We do not stop once we’ve “reached” Beyond. It’s a way of life, the way we are supposed to live as Love followers. One way we can know we’re on the right track is by looking at our lives and the life of our church. A growing, bigger life and a growing, bigger church brings glory to God, which gets us closer to living in the Beyond.

“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” [Ephesians 3:20-21]
