“Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new creation. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new.” [2 Corinthians 5:17]
Jesus doesn’t aim just to give us a better life. With Him, our lives are new. Literally brand new. We become new people with a new life and a new chance at redemption. Everything about our lives up until that point has vanished. All our mistakes and blunders and dark spots are gone. We are given a fresh start and a clean slate.
But it’s what we do with that newness that matters. After we’ve invited Jesus in and said yes to His way, how do we make the most of it? How do we really turn down this new path?
Make faith the number one priority. If we believe Jesus is who He says He is (the son of God), then that means that everything He says is the most important thing now. The truth is that we make time for the things that hold value in our lives. The only way to walk into this new life with Jesus is to make that walk come first, before everything else.
Never look back. The beauty about choosing to follow Jesus is that the old is gone. The poor choices we used to make, the broken people we used to be – it’s all gone. And with that comes a very real shift in patterns. Following Jesus was never promised to be easy, but there is great reward for those that follow and follow all the way.
Remember that you are purposed on purpose. God has you exactly where He needs you. Let that sink in: the God of the universe hand selected where He needed you to be, to serve, to love. It’s up to us to grasp onto that and live it out. God is not sending anyone else to save your friends or your families, He’s sending you.
We are unable to lead others into Light unless we live in it first. We are made to influence the culture. When we walk in Light, we illuminate the way for an entire generation to know Jesus and His unending Love.
