Living My Best Life | Compel

Drew Bridges

Jesus said to all of his followers, “If you truly desire to be my disciple, you must disown your life completely, embrace my ‘cross’ as your own, and surrender to my ways. For if you choose self-sacrifice, giving up your lives for my glory, you will embark on a discovery of more and more of true life. But if you choose to keep your lives for yourselves, you will lose what you try to keep. Even if you gained all the wealth and power of this world, everything it could offer you, yet lost your soul in the process, what good is that?
[Luke 9:23-25]

The way God calls us to live looks very different from the way the world tells us to live. And – the best part of all – when we live for God, our lives are better than we could have imagined.

What’s my definition of success? We have to define what a successful life looks like before we’ll find it. We can’t hit a target we’re not aiming for. We must set goals, be a follower of people that are on the same journey, and use our resources for the glory of the Kingdom.

How am I making myself better? Are we spending time with God every day? God wants His whisper to be the loudest voice we hear – is that the case? Which voices are we tuning in to? Are they holding us accountable and pushing us closer to Jesus?

Am I enjoying the journey? God’s life, the life we’re designed for, is joyful. Now, this doesn’t mean that we are promised an easy life. But, it does mean that there is joy unending. Do we bring joy to those around us?

With God, we have the amazing opportunity to live our best lives. Lives that are full of dancing and joy and hope and love and future and grace and mercy.
