Not Forsaken [part 2]

Pastor Phillip O’Reilly | The Most Important Thing About You

The most important thing about us is what comes to mind when we think about God. Read that again and let it settle. The way we view God is the most important thing. It shapes our interactions with each other, with ourselves, and with Him.

Until God is our satisfaction, we will never be satisfied. Ultimate satisfaction is only found in God. Without Him, we continue to thirst without quenching, hunger without fulfillment. The world will never give us the kind of peace we long for.

“The fact that our heart yearns for something earth can’t supply is proof that heaven must be our home” [CS Lewis}

To reach that satisfaction, to find our Home, we have to be thinking about God in the right way.

God created the sun and the moon and the stars and the skies, and still – looks at the creation of us and says “this is good”. In spite of our shortcomings, God still chooses us, over and over again, and calls us his sons and daughters.

Even with the majestic creation, He longs to be our Father above all. “God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’” [Acts 17:27-28]

God is not vengeful. God is not out to get us, and God does not seek to punish. God sustains us, maintains us, fights on our behalf, and calls us His own. God is the Way, the Truth and the Light. God is the Father.
