Not Forsaken [part 3]

Pastor Curt Vignery | How Much More

Last week, we learned that the most important thing about us is how we view God. If we have a flawed view of God, we have a flawed view of life.

We have to view God as our Father, above all else. Before we do anything, God picks us. We don’t have to earn it or work for it or be the best, He just gives it away freely because He is our Father.

We are living in the fatherless generation, which is the goal of the enemy. There is a battle going on for the family, and it starts and ends with the father.

In brokenness, some fathers are absent and passive. In brokenness, some fathers are antagonistic. In brokenness, some fathers are abusive. And this creates a gap. Some are cracks in the pavement, while others turn into canyons, stretching over miles of hurt.

But, there is good news. God is our Father. He is a Father to the fatherless. He is the love that makes everything right. He shows up every time on time. He longs to give us so much more good than we can dream. He is the attention and the affection we’ve been chasing. He is the perfection of what our earthly fathers could not be.

And He is standing in the gap. Even though it’s scary there and full of hurt, He is waiting. Waiting for us to jump. Waiting for us to trust that His heart is good and His arms are strong.

“…how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” [Matthew 7:11]
