Run To Stop It

Russ Tuttle | Stop Trafficking Project

The epidemic of sex trafficking has reached crisis levels in the US. In fact, America is rated in the top three countries for sex trafficking among Mexico and the Philippines.

Our culture is creating and pushing messages that encourage sexual abuse and exploitation. This type of hypersexualized culture fosters demand to purchase sex.

While it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the stats on this, it’s important to remember whose team we are on. Sex trafficking is the enemy’s playground. It is where he makes the rules and where he reigns. But our God – the God who is bigger than the heavens and the earth and the enemy – has already won this fight. The enemy has already been defeated. It’s up to us to raise the battle cry and make sure the triumphant Light reaches every corner of Dark.

In Genesis, we meet Abraham. He is very old when God tells him to go. God doesn’t tell him where or how, but still, Abraham trusts and goes anyway. He left his home, his friends, his comfort, and went without knowing the outcome.

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” [Hebrews 11:8]

Not only did he go without knowing where he was headed, he remained faithful. He had a simple kind of faith – the kind that doesn’t overthink or try to answer questions. He believed God at His word, and didn’t ask for more.

This is the same type of faith God is calling for us to have now. The only way to put an end to sex trafficking is to go, even if (especially if) we don’t know what’s next. He’s calling us to fight for and believe in our students, and to go a step further, to TELL them we are for them.

We don’t get to know when sex trafficking will be abolished. We don’t get a timeline and we definitely don’t get to know each step of the way what’s next. But what we do get to know is that God is bigger than the enemy, that His Light is brighter than the Darkness is dark, and that He’s already won this war.

Run To Stop It is an annual campaign to raise funds to assist in the abolition of human sex trafficking. At The Rock, we have the honor of partnering with those on the front lines. Because of your continued support of this cause, we have been able to donate over $700,000 dollars towards the abolition of sex trafficking. This year, our goal is to raise an additional $300,000.
