What Are You Into?
Pastor Phillip O’Reilly
People will invest time for things they’re in to. They’ll spend money on their passions and hobbies. So, what are you in to?
Or maybe a better question would be who are you in to? Who we are in to and focused on matters. If we are putting Jesus in second place, people will know. Instead of reflecting Jesus’ hope and love onto others, are you reflecting greed? Pride? Conditional love? When pressure comes and life gets hard and things don’t go our way, what comes out of us? Jealousy? Bitterness? Meanness? Or love? Forgiveness? Grace?
Who we are in to has a direct impact on who is in you. We hear over and over again in the Bible that we are to remain in Him and He will remain in us (John 15:4). Simply put, if we are into Jesus, He will be with us. Which is pretty great. Being into Jesus and having Jesus in us is much harder than it sounds, though.
You see, Jesus did not come to make us better, he came to make us brand new. Into a person that hasn’t existed before now. Into someone better than we could have imagined. And change can be scary. And hard. And, well, complicated. But – we have to allow Jesus to work in us and through us. God promises to make us a new creation. He promises to use us to further His kingdom. He says He will send us to the ends of the earth for His people. And we can’t do all those amazing, Kingdom things without drinking from His life-giving water. And be totally immersed in Him and with Him.
